Twins in Raspberry and Blueberry

Just finished these sets of blanket and hat for a girl at work who is expecting twins in October.  I used a large "M" crochet hook and the "V" stitch for both.  I foundation single crochet (80) and then two more rows of single crochet.  Double crochet "V" stitch for (40) rows and then three single crochet rows to match the beginning three single crochet rows.  The hats are front post to make the ribbing and then single stitch for about six inches and then a gather at the top and a handmade pom pom for each.  I am looking forward to gifting them to the mommy-to-be.  Enjoy the pics!

Rustic Star Scentsy Burner

A co-worker and friend of mine just started selling Scentsy.  The smelly scents that the burner melts by a light bulb ( no fire to worry about and no matches) are the best smelling.  There are many styles and different sizes of burners available too.  Enjoy the pic!

Sweet pea vanilla is melting in my burner! Smells yummy!

Crochet + Felting = Hat

The end project is a hat called a "bucket hat."  There are patterns for the bucket hat on the web.  Two skeins crocheted together to make a think material of wool.  I followed the directions step by step.  I was happy with the shape but noticed the size was much smaller than it was supposed to be for a "man-size" hat. After a couple of rounds in the washing machine wash cycle I was happy with the felting.  After drying though the hat was much too small for any man's head.  I must confess, I didn't use the gauge or size crochet hook in the directions.  So, all of that work around and around in the back loop only, washing, felting and I ended up with a very nice...felted bowl.  I purchased a "P" hook and will be starting a new bucket hat following all of the directions including gauge and hook!  Enjoy the pics!

Clay Purl - Nashville, Indiana

Along with four of my friends I took a during-the-week day trip to Brown County - Nashville, Indiana.  The day was perfect with a breeze cooling down the hot sun.  The highlight of the road trip for me was definitely visiting the Clay Purl.  Owner, Michele Hayes, was there.  I recognized her from her picture on her blog  The location of the Clay Purl is a garden setting nestled among other shops.  You step off the small street and onto decking and a few steps down into the Clay Purl.  Enticing you to go inside looking into the window you will see a sheep shaped wooden basket full of yarn.  The Clay Purl has all of the yarn you could possibly want to purchase for your knitting or crochet.  Michele has stocked quality yarns and bamboo knitting needles.  Michele's son is a clay artist and provides the shop with yarn bowls for you to purchase.  I missed out on a yarn bowl at this visit, but I will return soon or order one to be mailed to me.   The Clay Purl is uncluttered and inviting.  There is a table and chairs to work on projects or you could plop yourself down in one of the two comfy armless chairs.  Michele was very kind and easy to visit with.  When you are in Nashville, Indiana make a trip to the Clay Purl on Franklin Street to purchase the yarn for your next knit or crochet project.  And if you're lucky enough to have the Clay Purl as your LYS, Michele offers knitting classes.  Click above to visit her blog for her class schedule.
